The Allerdale GDF Working Group formed to start an important conversation about the future with the local community. It’s about whether your borough could be the right place to build a Geological Disposal Facility, or GDF – and whether a GDF would be good for the area.
Geological disposal is internationally recognised as the safest long-term solution for dealing with radioactive waste. The aim of a GDF is to protect people and the environment for hundreds of thousands of years.
