A Geological Disposal Facility, or GDF, is a facility for safely and securely disposing of ‘higher activity’ radioactive waste deep underground.
The role of the Community Partnership is to engage with local people and ensure the community has all the information they need when considering the possibility of hosting a GDF in Allerdale.
These events provide an opportunity for Partnership Members to listen to local people and answer questions. You can also speak to Subject Matter Experts, explore a large-scale GDF model and get interactive with rock samples and Virtual Reality headset.
