Cockermouth Rotary Club
£3,400 and £5,000

Project Overview

Cockermouth Rotary Club were awarded £3,400 for their Christmas Borrowers project, which related to pantomime performances at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake. They offered free tickets to vulnerable children and families who would not normally be able to go to such an event and worked with trusted referring agencies to offer the opportunity to families within the Allerdale search area.

They were also awarded £5,000 towards the staging of their ‘Let’s Talk Mental Health’ conference which took place on Thursday 2nd February 2023 at Christ Church in Cockermouth. The aim of the conference was to raise awareness of the issues around mental ill health and help more people get the support and information they need to protect and improve mental their health.

“The grant Cockermouth Rotary Club received from the Community Investment Fund supported us to organise the conference and raise awareness of the issues around mental ill health, whilst also helping more people get the support and information they need. It helped us create an opportunity to rekindle efforts to protect and improve mental health for people in Cumbria and we’re thrilled at the response we received from those who attended.”
