The Carnegie Singers
£2,000

Project Overview

Workington choir The Carnegie Singers were awarded £2,000 for a community engagement and outreach project related to the wellbeing benefits of singing. They used the funding to rebrand and relaunch the choir to increase its membership.

The funding supported the choir to:

  • Design a new logo
  • Revamp the website
  • Create a new approach to advertising choir events
  • Increase their use of social media to promote what they do and showcase some of their music

The grant also helped the choir to organise or participate in a number of events, including:

  • ‘Just Sing’ – a public singing day with a professional Musical Director
  • The Carnegie Theatre’s Platinum Jubilee afternoon tea event
  • Summer Givin’ – a local concert where proceeds were donated to Hospice at Home and RNLI
  • An RNLI base visit to present a cheque and sing sea shanties
  • Conducting a Hospice at Home visit for a cheque presentation
  • Holding a celebratory concert in Workington in memory of Gerald Gillett, the choir’s founder, with an audience of his ex-students
  • Participating in the ‘Light up a Life’ service for Hospice at Home
