Workington Town Council were awarded a grant of £126,288 which will provide playground equipment for Vulcan Park, which is located in the centre of Workington. The play area of Vulcan Park is one of the largest play areas in the town and is very widely used throughout the year. The new equipment will provide a facility that is completely inclusive for local children with equipment that will accommodate wheelchair access and provide sensory play.
“The grant Workington Town Council received from the Community Investment Fund was used to install playground equipment in Vulcan Park, which is at the very heart of the town and widely used by local people. This upgrade to the parks facilites means the play area will now be completely inclusive, since it includes equipment that accommodates wheelchair access and provides sensory play. We are very grateful for the support we have received from the Allerdale GDF Community Partnership to deliver this project which will allow many more people to enjoy the park.”
