We are looking for new members!

February 9, 2023

We have opened applications for new members as we continue our work to broaden the conversation about whether Allerdale could be the right place to build a Geological Disposal Facility, or GDF.

Formed in January 2022, our Partnership sits at the heart of the Government’s consent-based siting process which is exploring if Allerdale could be a suitable host for a GDF, to dispose of the UK’s higher-activity radioactive waste.

We are eager to hear from any individuals who live or work in the Search Area and want to support our engagement with the community; developing a vision for the area and ensuring those affected by this major infrastructure project have continued opportunities to be involved in the process and have their questions answered.

“As a group we are passionate about the local area and are determined to continue building a strong Community Partnership that is reflective of our community. Anyone who lives or works in the Search Area is invited to apply.”

“The Partnership are particularly interested to hear from people aged 18-30, those with experience working in communications and anyone with environmental knowledge. Anyone considering making an application is welcome to contact us first for an informal chat.”

– Mary Bradley, Chair

As well as new members for the Community Partnership, we are also seeking members for sub-groups and interest groups and- our Community Investment Panel.

Applications for any or all of these roles can be made online HERE or by calling 0300 369 0000 to request an application pack.

The closing date for applications is Monday 27th February at 12 noon.
